Hi, my name is Daan Slootjes, I'm a 20 year student from Gouda in the Netherlands. Currently I'm studying Communication and Multimedia Design at the Hague University of Applied Sciences. In my study we focus on interaction design but I love design in general and so I never want to limit myself in one area of design. Apart from designing and reading the latest on the internet, I love to spend my spare time with my friends drinking beer and going out. I also try to watch as many TV shows as possible, you can ask about my favorites later (It's a long list....)
Aside from my study I work at my local supermarket which to an outsider may have nothing to do with interaction design. In the four years I have worked there, I have learned the contrary is in fact true. A supermarket is in fact as much user experience design as a website. Everything is meticulous thought out from the moment you enter to the moment you leave. So the next time you're standing in a supermarket try to figure out the route they want you to walk through the store.

Here you can read about the skills I have acquired over the years. But if you want a quick impression: this website was build in under two days
English
While Dutch is my mother tongue, I started learning English when I was about 10 years old. In 2013 I participated in an extra school program where I received an extra diploma for my English. The school program is part of the Anglia network and helped me reach C1 on the Common European Framework of Reference
HTML/CSS
Since I was a kid, I always wanted to learn to make websits. So I went looking online and found a good way to learn HTML and CSS. Starting online was a good way to begin, but college really helped me figure out all the ins and outs of the wondrous world of coding
Javascript/JQuery
After learning CSS on my own and tried to learn Javascript to myself. However it proved too difficult to learn. I finally learned Javascript in college and right after I learned JQuery.
Adobe Photoshop/Illustrator/InDesign
My father has worked with the Adobe suite for over a decade and so he introduced me to it when I was still in primary school. Over the years, I learned everything there is to know about the software.
